Nikki received an email from a representative from Thoroughbred Park re a steeplechase being run for Pony Clubbers with a pony under 12hh on the Canberra Black Opal Stakes ( 7 March). A cash prize is offered to the winning club. Apparently there will also be Arabian ,and Quarter horse races in the future.
2.Zone meeting December 2009- issues raised :
In 2009 the Zone voted that a paramedic be present for Zone events (not club events). It was found that the fees charged to competitors were insufficient to meet costs and these costs are also expected to rise from $550 per day to $660 per day. Zone has listed a range of options to meet these costs. It was agreed that Sue D would send the email listing options to members who are asked to advise Sue of their preference for the Zone representatives of KPC to feedback to the \February Zone meeting.
We confirmed that Brendan Maunder is our First Aid Officer at KPC, and that we were pleased to have St Johns Ambulance present at our gymkhana. We discussed first aid training for additional people at KPC but no decision was made.
The NSW PC proposed that the State Dressage Championships be moved from August to January from next year. Discussion seemed to suggest that KPC would prefer the dressage to remain in August due to the heat of January and because of school holidays.
3.Camp forms will be collected at the February rally.
4.: KPC events :KPC has two competitions in the Zone calendar this year. The gymkhana in September , and a jump day was listed for 16 May. We discussed the May option and it was agreed a combined dressage and jump day would maximize the number of competitors . Competitors could choose to ride in both disciplines or only one.
- Kristie Lee expressed the need for ideas from the members as to what they would like to do at rallies. This requires further discussion. We can consider upcoming competitions when planning rallies, and also the Pony Club proficiency certificates to inform rally planning.
6.Fundraising Nikki discussed Kaz jodhpurs which will give a proportion of the cost of jodhpurs to the club . The jodhs are custom made, with a variety of colours, and the more orders received the greater the return to the club. Adults $85, Kids $65. More information will be circulated
Another idea was selling KPC drink bottles which could be a fundraiser and also ensure riders drink enough in the hot weather.
- Next rally. A twilight or early morning rally was discussed with a sleep over in the club house as a practice for PC camp. This would also avoid the heat of the day. An email will be sent soon to discuss options and to clarify plans.
Meeting closed 2pm Next meeting at February rally

- Kambah PC are having a 'Car Boot sale' (no dealers) at the KPC Grounds on 7 Nov 09. Hopefully there will be lots of pre loved horse gear waiting for a new home; however, anything that will fit in your car boot can be sold. This is a fundraiser for KPC, and a small fee per car space will apply.
